Here in Melbourne, people says ThankQ frequenly.
They say to the bus drivers. Or they either wave at the bus driver before they get down from the bus if they see that the bus driver is busy with the tickets and passengers.
When you're walking on the street and notice someone behind you is in a rush and you're blocking his way, you might just move aside so that he can pass through. And surprisingly, they'll turn and say ThankQ.
You wanna buy something in a supermarket and you're paying at a counter. The cashier will mostly smile at you and ask, "How are you today?". After you've done your payment and say your ThankQ, they'll reply you a ThankQ-Very-Much.
We learn about good manners and characters from teachers and parents and books. Sadly, we don't really practice them daily. Or maybe it's just us? These actions are so simple yet we neglect them.
I know it might feel and seem awkward. But I'm gonna start practicing these manners when I go back to Malaysia. Who knows? Maybe sooner everyone will be more polite and friendly.
